Bremen blanks Gordon Lee, 41-0
by Rome News Tribune
The Bremen Blue Devils built a 14-0 lead less than three minutes into the game, extended it to 27-0 by halftime and coasted to a 41-0 victory over visiting Gordon Lee in Region 6-A matchup on Friday.

The Blue Devils (7-1, 4-0) scored on the game's second play as quarterback Clayton McIntosh kept the ball on a fake and went 66 yards for the first of his three first-half touchdowns.

Bremen's Kail Singleton then intercepted Josh Weller on the Trojans' first offensive snap and it took the Blue Devils just four plays to get back in the endzone.

A 47-yard run by Singleton set up McIntosh's second score from three yards out.

Gordon Lee mounted a long, lengthy drive on their second possession, getting first-and-goal at the Bremen 6-yard line. But the Devils' defense stiffened and eventually got the ball back on downs.

The Bremen offense then moved crisply downfield, covering 94 yards all on the ground. A long TD run by McIntosh boosted the lead to 20-0 with 9:22 left in the half.

Gordon Lee was able to mount another long drive in the second quarter, moving inside the 10, but a chop block penalty would prove costly as the drive came up empty once more.

A bizarre series of plays in the final seconds resulted in Bremen's fourth score of the half.

The Devils looked to take a knee with eight seconds left, but fumbled the ball to Gordon Lee who got one final play with two second remaining.

The Trojans threw for the endzone, but Bremen's Cal Hardie picked off Weller and went a full 99 yards for a back-breaking touchdown.

Christian Pritchard and Sam Murphy added touchdowns for the Blue Devils in the second half.
